Heat Index Thresholds & Restrictions
• 94°F – 99°F (or WBGT equivalent): Mandatory water and rest breaks (out of direct sun) are required at least every 30 minutes.
Above 99°F – 104°F (Football Specific): For football, a heat index reading above 99°F
requires the complete removal of helmets and all other protective gear. No padded or full-gear activity or warm-ups are permitted.
• Above 104°F (All Sports): All outdoor athletic activities and practices must completely stop.
