COVID-19 SEASON UPDATE (August 25, 2020)

Update Regarding the 2020 WCYFL Season

After weeks and months of discussions, meetings and consultations amongst the WCYFL Board of Directors, we have decided to POSTPONE the 2020 football season. This was not an easy decision, nor a decision that was taken lightly.

The WCYFL took a comprehensive approach in reaching our decision to postpone the season; we considered the mandates from the Governor, consulted with local high school coaches, considered the KHSAA guidelines and other 3rd party-related sources. Most importantly, and from whom/where we must take our direction locally, we feel that under the current guidelines mandated by the Warren County Parks Department, we do not feel that we can provide a safe and enjoyable football experience for our players, coaches and families. In addition, we feel that it would be a difficult, and impractical, task for all WCYFL players, coaches and families to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Warren County Parks Department (especially, as it relates to the sport of football – a contact sport).

Much like many of you, we are very disappointed to arrive at this conclusion. In the coming weeks, we will be working diligently to discuss plans for having a “postponed” season and serious discussions about ensuring, whenever we can return, the best football experience for the youth of Bowling Green and Warren County.
